Navy vs Notre Dame this weekend!

November 13th, 2008

Navy vs Notre Dame this weekend in Baltimore at the M&T Stadium downtown. I am hoping for a good game. Go Navy! We beat Notre Dame last year and if we play well we should be able to beat them again this year. I have a couple of club level tickets so even if it is raining it should be mostly comfortable. :-)

New Furnace install!

October 21st, 2008

Yay! Getting my new furnace and air conditioner installed today. They just hauled my old furnace up the stairs and outside. The new one went down stairs a few minutes ago. :-) The new furnace is much more efficient and should save me quite a bit over the years. The new air conditioner is also much more efficient and will also save more over the years to come. Replacing 23+ year old equipment with the latest model is a huge efficiency boost. I am also getting an air purifier installed on the furnace that will keep the house cleaner by removing dust and pollen from the air as it passes through the furnace. This should make allergy season much more comfortable. They are also installing a new humidifier on the furnace as well which should help remove some of the winter static I have been suffering with over the years. This new furnace is a constant flow furnace which means it keeps circulating the air even if the heating element is not running. By circulating the air constantly the house should maintain a more constant temperature and should need a little less heat overall.

Go Navy! Beat Pitt!

Navy vs Pitt today. Go Navy let’s keep winning.

Heading north for the weekend

October 10th, 2008

On the Acela heading to Westwood MA. We are just leaving NYC. I am going to spend the weekend with Will and Dave in Boston. We might visit the zoo or aquarium tomorrow.

New Furnace and AC unit

October 8th, 2008

Just ordered a new furnace and AC system for my house. I am getting an American Standard Freedom 95 Gas Furnace along with a American Standard 15 SEER Allegiance Air Conditioner 2.5 ton. My current furnace is over 26 years old and my AC system is over 20 years old. Both units still work, but are past the end of their expected life spans. So I figured it was time to replace them. I also am having an AprilAir Humidifier to try and bring the humidity up in the house. When I run my current heating system the humidity drops so low I get static from everything and I feel awful and dry. With luck the new humidifier will resolve that and make life more comfortable. I am also having an AprilAire SpaceGuard air cleaner installed on the new system. This will purify the air for the entire house, hopefully making life during allergy season more enjoyable.

Dinner - Tuesday

October 7th, 2008

Dinner tonight was Bangers and Mashed. It came out really good this time. I used Griggstown Chicken Sausage - Italian with White Wine, Parsley, Lemon & Basil. The mashed potatoes were Roasted Garlic and Cheddar flavored. Then for something a little healthy I added some peas. :-) All in all it came out quite delicious, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Dinner

October 1st, 2008

I stopped at the grocery store tonight on my way home and did some quick shopping. While walking past the beef section I saw some excellent Filet Mignon, so I grabbed it. :-) I grilled it up and made some mashed potatoes to go with it. I have to say next time I will cook it about a minute less to get a rare instead of the medium rare I got. It came out amazing though. I really enjoyed dinner tonight. It has been a good day.

Shooting

October 1st, 2008

Spent the day at the firing range on Fort Dix today. Got to fire some cool guns including a Thompson machine gun, a .308 sniper rifle, a couple M-16, and some glocks. It was a lot of fun, I enjoyed the day a lot.

Go Navy!!

September 27th, 2008

Well, Navy beat #16 Wake Forest! The line was Wake Forest by 15 1/2 and we beat them! Woohoo!! Go Navy!

The game was great. Navy dominated from the start and Wake Forest never got anything going. Navy defense did an amazing job. The Mids are doing fantastic.

Saturday

September 26th, 2008

Last day. Spent the morning packing up and making sure I didn’t leave anything behind. :-)
We left the hotel at 11am. We headed up to Sanford to catch the auto train home. We stopped and had lunch at Don Pablo’s a mexican restaurant in Sanford. Lunch was great. We will likely make this a regular part of the trip.

We then headed over to the train station and checked in. I got the deluxe bedroom for the trip home. It was a great room. I will certainly get that again. The trip up was uneventful and very comfortable. All in all it was a great trip!
